“For meditation; any time is the right time – you just have to be relaxed and playful.” – Osho

Osho says "Bliss is the goal of life; meditation is the means, the way to it. Bliss is the end; meditation is the bridge, the boat that takes you to the farther shore. Without meditation nobody has ever known what bliss is."

Meditation is a very simple phenomenon. It is your intrinsic nature – it is you, it is your being. Meditation is a state of clarity; it is not a state of mind. Meditation begins when the mind ends; that is when there are no thoughts. At Oshogram, we practice these ancient techniques daily in our Himalayan ashram, surrounded by apple orchards and pine forests that naturally support your inner journey.

What Are Active Osho Meditation Techniques?

Techniques, preliminary methods as Osho calls them, are needed to remove the obstacles on the way of meditation. They help and prepare us for deeper states of awareness.

Osho's methods of meditation are non-serious, joyful and very effective. Dance, catharsis, celebration and silence are all part of meditation techniques. Each session begins with active movement to release suppressed emotions and mental tension.

Osho has designed active meditation techniques for contemporary men and women. They have catharsis and celebration as foundation. Once the inner chaos and repressions are thrown out, it becomes easier to relax into silence. The second aspect is celebration. As Osho puts it, "in the world of consciousness, nothing is as helpful as celebration." He says celebration is like watering a plant and encourages us to dance with our silence.

"Always remember that if you are moving in the right direction you will go on flowering. Much fragrance will come out of you and you will be creative. And you will be sensitive to life, to love, and to everything that God makes available to you." – OSHO

Come, experience it for yourself...

Why Practice Meditation in a Himalayan Ashram?

Meditation is the heart and soul of Oshogram. That is the purpose we created this ashram amidst nature and with a beautiful Buddha Hall. The Himalayan environment naturally supports meditation practice. At higher elevations, the clean mountain air, silence of the forests, and energy of the mountains create ideal conditions for inner transformation.

You are very welcome if meditation is your interest too. Our meditation retreats run year-round, offering both weekend workshops and longer immersion programs. The ashram community practices together daily, creating a supportive field of consciousness.

How Do Dynamic Meditation and Dance Techniques Work?

Dynamic Meditation is Osho's signature technique. It begins with chaotic breathing to wake up your energy. Then comes catharsis – you throw out everything you have been holding inside. The third stage is jumping and shouting the mantra "Hoo!" to hit the energy center below the navel. After this intense activity, you freeze completely, becoming a witness to whatever is happening inside. The final stage is celebration through dance.

Kundalini Meditation happens at sunset. You shake your body, allowing energy to move up from your feet. Then you dance freely, sit silently, and lie down in total relaxation. Nadabrahma is a seated humming meditation that creates inner harmony. Nataraj is pure dance as meditation, where you disappear into the movement.

These active meditation techniques work because they address the modern person's needs. We carry so much mental noise and body tension that sitting silently is nearly impossible at first. The active methods burn through this layer, making silence accessible.

What Should You Expect During Your First Meditation Camp?

Your day at Oshogram begins before sunrise. We gather in the Buddha Hall for Dynamic Meditation as the sun rises over the mountains. After breakfast, there are passive meditations and discourses. Evenings include Kundalini Meditation followed by tea in the garden and day culminates with White Robe Brotherhood.

The ashram sits in a small Himalayan village surrounded by apple orchards. You will stay in simple rooms, eat vegetarian meals prepared with local ingredients, and spend time in nature between sessions. The meditation retreat experience is designed to disconnect you from normal life patterns and support inner exploration.

Many visitors arrive carrying stress, confusion, or a sense that something is missing. The combination of meditation techniques, mountain environment, and ashram community creates space for transformation. You do not need previous experience - just willingness to explore your inner world.

When Are Meditation Camps and Events Held?

Oshogram is open year-round. We hold regular meditation camps throughout the year, each focusing on different aspects of Osho's teachings. Spring and autumn offer mild weather perfect for outdoor meditation. Summer brings lush green forests and cool mountain air. Winter transforms the ashram into a snow-covered sanctuary, ideal for deep silence and introspection.

Special events include celebration days for Osho's birth and enlightenment, plus longer meditation intensives. Check our events calendar for upcoming programs. Weekend visitors are welcome, but longer stays of one to four weeks allow deeper immersion into meditation practice.

Come Experience Meditation in the Mountains

The path of meditation cannot be explained - it must be experienced. Oshogram offers you this opportunity in one of the world's most beautiful natural settings. How is Oshogram different from other meditation centers?

Oshogram follows Osho's vision of meditation as celebration, not discipline. We combine active cathartic techniques with silence in a natural Himalayan setting. The ashram is small and intimate, creating genuine community rather than a commercial retreat atmosphere. Our focus is inner transformation through meditation, not just relaxation or wellness.
